Donna, where did you get your 1861 census information with John Yates living with his son Edward? I checked the 1861 Census on Ancestry.com and it gives John Yates living with his daughter Fanny Yates at 59 Sandy Rd, Lezayre and his son Edward living with his family, a governess and three servants at 54 Ash Hill, Lezayre. Puzzling????
