Re: WI Skillicorns
In Response To: Re: WI Skillicorns ()

I am interested that you have identified the parents of the John who married Margaret Corrin as Henry Skillicorn/Margaret Fargher. What is your source for this information?

I have been stuck trying to identify John's parents, so would appreciate any help you can give.

There were 4 John Skillicorns bp at Lonan at approximately the right time period to be the one who married Margaret Corrin:

John, son of John Oct 18, 1765
John, son of Thomas June 28, 1767
John, son of Henry January 19, 1766
John, son of Henry July 26, 1767

Baptism records at this time do not give mother's names. (And to complicate matters, there were at least 3 Henrys of the right age to be having children at this time)

As yet I haven't located any wills, monumental inscriptions or land records that link any of the 4 Johns as adults with the fathers of 1765-1767.

I should have been more specific in my reply to Dale:

John (c. 1766-1813)- Margaret Corrin ((1765-1837)

John (1796-1831) - Ann Killip (1796-1871)

John Henry Skillicorn (1828-1903) - Eliza Jane Dunstan (c. 1843-1899)

Joseph H. Skillicorn (c. 1872-1934) - Jessie Cowin (????-1921)
