I am trying to get through my brick wall. My 3xG grandfather is William Hughes, he is on the IOM 1951 Census born about 1850 as a visitor born in IOM being looked after by Elizabeth Kinrade her 3 year old daughter and Elizabeths father William. I can then trace him to Liverpool where he died after rearing his own family naming them all Quayle Hughes. I wondered if he was a foundling or an orphan and Elizabeth was being paid by the parish to wetnurse him as she is a pauper washerwoman. Any clues would be most gratefully received.
