If the author is who I think it is it is something like 'can you trace your descent to Adam' - it was mentioned some years ago in IoMFam Hist magazine. I'm afraid that she is one of those authors for whom I need to see full chapter and verse for any quoted genealogy.

Until late 16th Century the Earls of Derby (ie Lords of Man) were strongly inclined to Roman Catholicism - it is very unlikely that any protestant vicar would be appointed till quite late in 16th C (or even later)
