Help.
I have been trying to trace my paternal grandmother for two years now,
without with no luck.
Her name was Kathleen Corrin, and my father told me she was born on the
IOM. Everytime we enter her name ( Kathleen )in the search , it changes
it to Catherine.
Her death cert states her name as Kathleen Purcell nee Corrin, as does
the name on her gravestone.
The only Kathleen Corrin we can find on the sites born on the IOM, was
born circa 1900, so this can not be her.
A possibility I am following, is that she had a male cousin who was a
registrar on the IOM, but his name is unknown to me.
She was born circa 1888, and died in 1968, aged 80, in Warrington
England.
She was married to Thomas Frederick Purcell, but we can not find any
record of their marriage on any of the Ancestry Web Sites.
We know that she lived in Liverpool for some time, we also know that she
had three sons, all born in England.
One possibility that matches her birthdate, is that she was born in
Liverpool, her father John Corrin born on the IOM, and her mother Emma
Jane Corrin nee Torrible ( born in Ireland ).
But again her name is recorded as Catherine Corrin in the 1901 cencus,
and in the 1891 census as Ketty.
We have got the Index of Registered Births for Corrin / Karran for the
IOM, but nothing seems to relate to her.
Another thing that seems odd is that every web site changes the name
from Kathleen, to Catherine.
It it possible that you can trace a Kathleen Corrin born circa 1888 in
your IOM BMD records ?.
As no marriage cert.for my grandparents ( Kathleen & Thoms Frederick )
can be found, I am findig it very frustrating, as I obviously knew them
both very well.
I would therefore be very grateful if you could help in any way, either
via your records or suggesting any possible ways forward for me.
Kind regards
Brenda McWillians nee Purcell ( only grandchild ).
