Re: Watts Genealogy
In Response To: Re: Watts Genealogy ()

I am also looking at records of Watt families on the Isle -

A person is also looking for some info for a Elizabeth Watt(s) born on the Isle - daughter of a John Watt & Ann Hepburn.

Apparently John Watt & Ann came from Scotland - John was Principal Lighthouse Keeper on the Calf of Man

She is also looking for children born to them that were lost by the typhos epidemic and a birth date or christening record for their daughter Elizabeth.
She indicated there were 3 children lost to John & Ann and 1 to the assistant lighthouse keeper.

She also was looking for a possible 1840 census on the Isle for John Watt & family.

If there is any info on this family in your Manx notebook - could you give me the reference page and i will pass it on to her.

The info she has currently is this:
John Watt was superannuated ( I have a copy of the minutes in the register) in 1841. Also sent to me were minutes 8 / 1/ 1820 page 283, item 11

and also this: In consideration of the great distress of the Keeper and his assistant have suffered the keeper lost 3 and his assistant lost 1 child by the typhos fever. There was a gratuity of 10 guineas paid to the keeper and 5 guineas to his assistant. This was sent to me by John Hellowell who was researching lighthouse keepers.

Thanks,

Tim
