Following on from the information from Brian' Keen's helpful list of possible Mariners... I did a search on the Vessels that Thomas Corrin (born about 1813 IOM) was on and I was amazed and astounded to find out that my relative Thomas Corrin was actually an OWNER of the Vessels Kangaroo and Ruby during 1867 ... so although you have not an address on your listing Brian, of his son William Charles Corrin, by the listings in 1867 when William was on his first ship as a boy aged 13 ... it has transpired that it was most likely "Daddys ship" that he started his naval career on.
I see that I can only probably reseach further back into Thomas Corrin's Naval Career by visiting the Manx National Heritage Library.. that will mean a definite visit to IOM in 2009 then!!! I must find out now when his career started ... because in 1867 (from the listings)Thomas Corrin was already a 50 something!!! If his son started a career aged 13 in 1867, I am sure that my GGGgrandfather would also have possibly started at a very early age.
Thanks again to all those helping me track down my Corrin family who came from IOM.
