Re: Maughold marriages
In Response To: Re: Maughold marriages ()

Tony, I have looked further for Annie Barron, to see why she gave her birthplace as either Maughold or German in censuses.
In the 1851 census her family was in Ramsey, Sand Street. Thomas Barren, Head, Marr., 36, Tanner, b. Braddan, with wife Cathrine, 38, b.Maughold, and children John Thos 15, b.Ramsey, Cathrine 10, b.German, Ann 8, b.German, Henry Edwd 1 month b.Ramsey. Also Visitor Catharine Looney, Marr., 64, Farmer's wife, b.Maughold.

Thomas Barron's wife looks like Catharine the daur of Ewan Looney & Catharine Kennish who was bapt Maughold Parish Church on 12 Apr 1812, and the visitor (for the latest baby's birth?) looks like her mother Cath Kennish, the daur of Thomas Kennish & Margaret Radcliffe who was bapt Maughold Parish Church on 26 Aug 1787.
