Thanks Frances-
The IGI ( should I believe it???) has a John Kneale ch. March 24 1769 Bride with parents John Corlett and Anne Kneale... so did these two not marry or was he born before they married ( I know that was common and considered legal- ) therefore this John retained the Kneale name??
My only thought was that Ann Quirk seems to have been born 1777 from ages given on census and if I remember correctly her death info. So John being born 1783 would have made him 6 years younger. I also haven't found any Ann Quirk being born in Bride on the IGI (who would be of the correct age.)
Thanks for helping. This is slowly unravelling. Diane
