Thank you very much indeed. Such promptitude!

It figures that Captain Adams was trying to make ends meet. His son, Samuel, my ancestor, was admitted to St John's College Cambridge as a 'sizar' which usually meant limited financial means. (Though having lost his father might have something to do with that too, as might having four siblings to get advanced in the world.)

Also fascinated by "Cavan militia" which confirms family legend of origins in Ireland.
