I have recently obtained with the help of a lady in Douglas, information in the form of newspaper clippings about the deaths of 4 men attempting to assist ships in the harbour in distress during a winter storm, Ramsey harbour Nov. 5, 1832
My primary interest was in John Lace, who had participated in the Battle of Trafalgar. I thought the others may be of interest to members on the mailing list, as two of the three left widows and families.
Their names were, John Kaneen, Thomas Corlett and the single man was Charles Crow.
The reports were published in the Manx Sun, the Manks Advertiser, with an entry in the Edinburgh Mercury identical to the one in the Advertiser.
If anybody would like a transcription, or a scanned copy, write me at laxey@shaw.ca
