The first Noble's Hospital [ named after the benefactor]
was the red brick building now used as the original
part of Manx Museum & Library.It opened in 1888 &
served as the only hospital in Douglas until 1912 when
far too small it was replaced by a new Noble's on a green field site[ 57 beds/ x ray machine/ own electrical
generator. ] This building still exists as clinics /offices etc
but history has been repeated & in 2002 a new Noble's
was opened on a site outside Douglas on the estate of
Ballamona Mental Hospital.
