Re: Thomas Cain
In Response To: Re: Thomas Cain ()

Thanks for that. Here is some more of the Cain story which will probably be of interest to you.
I live in Gateacre which was in the mid 18th-19thc a Township within Little Woolton.
In the Will of Thomas Cain he says :-
" And whereas I am seized and possessed of certain Freehold Lands, Heraditaments and premises in Lord St. Marshall St. and Church St. in Liverpool and also of other Freehold Property containing about 32 statute acres within a ring fence or stone wall known by the names of Stags Farm or Hunts Folly situate in Childwall and Township of Little Wooltonpart of which was purchased of James Gill - Attorney, the other part by Joseph Mercer,
and the other part by Dr. Crompton'
Thomas Cain, must have come into this property through the Manorial system and which would have been left to him by his family'
he would not have purchased it I think.
It would be interesting to see the Will in which this was stated. The Norris family of coarse owned in the 17thc Little Woolton, and at that time were Lords of the Manor'
If you would like to read further history of Gateacre, pleased see online ' The Gateacre Society' and then 'The Academies of Gateacre'
by me. I am waiting to finish the story of Sarah Ann Holland who ran one of the Acamedies of Little Woolton' and it was Sarah Cain who married into the Holland family.
I hope you enjoy it. All very interesting !
If I can help further let me know.
