Re: family search Braddan MI Lookup

Here's my method:

www.familysearch.org
Click on Tab: Search
Click: Lefthand side – International Genealogical Index (IGI)

Enter: First and Last Names

Don’t Enter: Spouse or Event (yet!)

Enter: Year

Year Range 20+

Region

(once you have entered British Isles) the screen will change slightly

Country

County

*Note: Batch No. area – you will use this later!

Click: On appropriate name from list

If correct person:

Click: On Batch No.

The Batch No. refers to the family page in the church records. If there is no Batch No. (only a film No.) you have come to a dead-end in that particular search.

If you see a list of names they are probably relatives of your search (uncles/grandparents, etc).

By returning to the front screen * you can enter another Batch No. but either change the “C” to an “M” or “P” (see below for explanation) or change the last digit in the row of numbers to a lesser No. At this point enter only the last name – do not put in any other information.

I think “C” means children, “P” means parents and “M” means marriage.

I have more in-depth instructions which I can send later.

Good Luck! Isabel
