Thank you Brian Lawson for your response. At this stage it would appear he was illegitimate.
Regarding the 1851 Census was Eliza Corlett (aged24)present.
The reason being Charles Preston married Mary Corlett and they had a son Charles Preston who was about the same age as Mina Field.
It would appear also that the Prestons and Corletts were inlaws.
My great Grandfather John Henry Preston kept to the line his father was Charles Frederick Preston or Frederick Charles Preston and his mother was Mina Field(Mary Anne Field).
Surprisingly the 1851 lists a nephew Frederick Charles Kent.(Field?)
However his father is not named and his mother is listed as Elinor Field.
A Mary Anne Field dies and is buried at LEZ. 27th Sept.1854
There is also a Charles Preston 24 living in Douglas around 1850.
Can anybody help join the dots, fill in the missing spaces or provide a theory/possibility as I'm starting to go around in circles.
Thank you
Russell Preston
