Hi Liz,
I can not be sure as the record did not detail his parents.
I am hoping to find a son of my convict GGG grandmother, sentenced at Castle Rushen and accompanied to OZZ by her 2 daughters but only 1 son.
Another son, Thomas had been sentenced with her and came on another ship.
The 3rd son was either too old, over 8 years, or deceased.
This means that either in 1833 (year of trial) or 1835 (year of transportation) if he was living he was at least 9 years of age.
The death certificate you checked for me did not give any details of parents, but as the family originally lived in Castletown he could be who I am looking for.
Sarah's death certificate here in OZZ is silent as to her children, the informant was the son of the best man at my GG grandparents wedding (one of Sarah's daughters.
It is posible that there was some family disharmony as Sarah appears to have remained a Roman Catholic to the end while her daughter and her family were baptised and married in a variety of Protestant churches.
In 1840 Sydney had many churches of a wide number of denominations and had both an Anglican and a Roman Catholic Bishop so it was not a matter of making do with what as available.
For whatever reason Sarah left no details of her family. Hence my search.
Cheers
Peter
