The humble petition of Catherine Quiggin widow William Quiggin, Henry
Gill, James Quiggin, Ann Gill, Ann Cannell and Jane Caine next of kin of
William Quiggin late of Shalghage in the parish of Michael farmer.
Sheweth:
That the said William Quiggin died on or about the day of May intestate
that his estate consists principally of farm stock growing crops on
which require immediate care and supervision.
That it is necessary to carry on the general work of the farm or to
arrange for an immediate sale of the stock or otherwise there may be
considerable loss to the estate.
That your petitioners are therefore desirous that administration of the
estate and effects of the said William Quiggin may be forthwith granted
to petitioners or to some fit and proper person nominated by them.
Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray a hearing hereof and that your
Worship may be please to grant administration of the estate and effects
of the said William Quiggin to one of your petitioners or to some fit and
proper person nominated by them.
And petitioners will pray. Rich. Sherwood for Pet.
Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a Special
Ecclesiastical Court to be held at Douglas on Saturday the 15th day of
June 1878 at 12 o'clock noon. Whereof all proper parties and persons are
to have due and lawful notice. R. Jebb
Large inventory taken - not recorded here in this will.
I Catherine Quiggin widow of the late William Quiggin do hereby admit to
have audited the foregoing accounts of William Killip administrator and
hereby declare the same correct an further do hereby acknowledge to
have received from the said administrator the sum of two pounds
nineteen shillings and ten pence my distributive share of the personal
estate of the said William Quiggin to which I am entitled as his widow.
This Sixth day of August 1881

Know all men by these presents that Matilda Caine of Manchester
daughter of the late Daniel Caine of Ballanea in Michael doth own and
acknowledge to have received from William Killip administrator of the
estate and effects of the late William Quiggin of Shalgaguie the sum of
thirty pounds fifteen shillings and ten pence being the amount to which
she is entitled under the will of the late Elizabeth Banks of Ballanea in
Michael of whom the said Willliam Quiggin was executor with all
interest up to this date and she doth hereby release and discharge the
said William Killip as such administrator and the estate and effects of
the said William Quiggin from all further claim liability or demand in
respect of her share of the estate of the said Elizabeth Banks.
Witness her name this the Sixth day of June 1879.

Ecclesiastical Court in our names in order to have administration of the
estate and effects of William Quiggin late of Shalghage in Michael
granted to William Killip of the said parish petition to be presented at

made for a special court for the purpose.

In the name of God Amen. I Philip Quiggin of Shughlage in the parish of
Michael and Jane Quiggin my wife do make this our joint will and
testament as follows viz:
In the first place we commit our souls to God and bodies to Christian
burial.
Secondly we leave to our son John a horse, a cow, the bed that he sleeps
on with the bedding together with one half of the cart, plow, harrows,
winnowing machine and farming implements after the death of the first
of us and the clock after the death of the longest liver or survivor.
We leave to our son William the sum of forty pounds together with a bed
bedding and cow payable at the death of the first of us.
And six pence each to all cravers.
Lastly we nominate ordain and appoint the longest liver of us the said
Philip Quiggin or Jane Quiggin whole and sole executor or executrix of
this our joint will being of sound mind memory and understanding at the
making thereof confirming this to be our joint will and testament this
29th day of July 1841.

I Jane Quiggin of Shalghaige in the parish of KK Michael being weak in
body but of a sound disposing mind memory and understanding do make
declare and publish this my last will and testament in the following
manner and form viz -
First I commend my soul to God and my body to a Christian burial.
I leave and bequeath to my son John Quiggin a cow and six sheep and a
bed and bedding and furniture thereto belonging and my best spinning
wheel and the whole of my socks as a legacy.
Lastly I nominate consititute ordain and appoint my son William Quiggin
whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament and
residuary legatee of all and singular the whole of my goods and effects
and of all my personal estate of all descriptions whatsoever or
wheresoever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed or
caused to be subscribed my name and mark this the Eighteeen day of
March One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty Six. Jane Quiggin

At a Chapter Court held in Kirk Michael on the 12th day of June 1856.
Daniel Caine and John Caine the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the will of Jane Quiggin deceased having
made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said Jane Quiggin the testatrix
when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed
and executed the same as and for her last will and testament in their
presence. William Quiggin the executor therein named is therefore
sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute said will according to law - to
pay all the just debts legacies and funeral expenses of said tastatrix so
far forth as the good and effects will extend and the law bind him. And
also to return tothe Archdeacon's Registry a full true and perfect
inventory of said estate and effects with an accurate account of his acts
and proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully required and to
these ends he hath given pledges namely John Caine and Daniel Caine who
have entered into and executed the usual bond in presence of the court.
