I am desperate to break this Lewin wall I have...
My gggg grandfather John Lewin married Elinor Banks (daughter of Matthias) 28 February 1796 in Braddan and from the IGI / census information I have children as
Cath Lewin 02 AUG 1797 St Matthews
Elinor Lewin 19 JUL 1799 St Matthews
Jane Lewin 15 NOV 1801 St Matthews
John lewin 25 MAR 1803 St Matthews
Thomas Matthias Lewin 06 JAN 1806 St Matthews
William Lewin 18 APR 1808 St Matthews
James Lewin (My ggg grandfather) 08 JUN 1811 St Matthews
Jane Margarett Lewin 16 NOV 1815 St Matthews
I have two potential fathers for John, one is John Lewin (married Margaret Cottier) or Thomas.
MI's might help (short of getting over there and delving into the wills, which I can't afford to do at the moment) so I would be grateful if someone could have a look for me for a couple of potential MI's in Braddan for John Lewin, Margaret Lewin nee Cottier - there are so many potential Thomas Lewins in Braddan at that time, I'm not sure which one would be which....
Here are the burial references for them from Brians site:
LEWIN, John Bra 3 Jan 1808 (I think this might be John that married Margaret Cottier)
LEWIN, Margaret 64 Bra 15 Aug 1803 COTTIER
LEWIN, John 78 Bra 23 May 1830
LEWIN, John 67 Bra 25 Aug 1830 ( I think this is probably John junior, but can't be sure)
Any help would be really appreciated! Hopefully it will be one of those miracle graves that lists everyone and his uncle....
here's hoping!
