Hello Pauline,
I have noticed from the message boards that you are researching the Garretts from the north of the island.
My great x3 grandparents were John Garrett (b. abt 1800 Andreas, bur. 24 Dec 1864 Bride, mar. 17 Dec 1831 Bride) and Margaret Goldsmith (chr. 13 Mar 1807 Bride and bur. 27 Sep 1887 Bride). They had 9 children John, Phillip, Eliza, David, William, Ann, William, Henry and Catherine.
John Garrett's parents have been a mystery for some time. I have been able to narrow them down to Daniel and Catherine Garrett, still with a hint of uncertainty.
John Garrett was born around the 1800's (from census records) at Andreas. There were three John Garrett's born at that time (according to the IGI). Two I have eliminated with certainty. The remaining John Garrett was christened on the 13 Jan 1799 to Daniel and Catherine Garrett. The maiden name of Catherine is uncertain. It could be Cottier or Skinner (according to the IGI).
Are you able to provide any information on these Garretts from your research?
Cheers
Craig Garrett
