Hello Pat,
I don't seem to have had much success by "googling" I got the Regimental Museum that way.
The Regiment I am trying to find recruitment records for is 2nd. Dragoon Guards (The Queens Bays). The soldier is my earliest traceable ancestor(so far) in the male line George Green. He appears from his discharge record to have joined late 1804 early 1805 at some point before 1811 he transfers to the 11th.Royal Veterans and in 1812 gets married at Malew Parish Church. Discharged July 1814 at Hythe Kent by 1830 is living in Union Mills-some of his children were baptised in Malew.
Died 1834 newspaper report says he lived in Douglas for several years.
That is almost all I know about him and most of this is due to Priscilla Lewthwaite (thanks be to her).
It is my hope that when I find recruitment records I will get some idea of where he was born. He seems to have been 35yrs old when he joined up what does that say about him?.
This probably won't help but it's all I have.
Best wishes
Rick
