Hi Liz, Sorry about the winds you are having, we have a barbi connected to the home gas supply, it is outside all the time, we had one on Friday evening.
Being summer we are having days up to and over 40 degrees, New Years morning, 1-30AM it was still over 30.
I am trying to find anything about my GG grandmother before her trial at Castle Rushen in 1833.
She and a son Thomas were sentenced to 14 years and arrived in OZZ, separately, in 1835.
Sarah brought with her 2 daughters and a son, they could bring daughters to 12 years and sons to 8 years.
The indent of convicts on the Marry III states that she was 50 years, a widow, a Roman Catholic, born in County Down and had had 3 sons and 2 daughters so a son had been left behind (too old) or had died previously.
Frances some time ago kindly sent me inter alia the following "...On Monday, in Castletown, ........ ; Michael McLinchey ; ........
& later At Castletown, on Thursday, ... Son of Michael McLuchy ...maybe they dropped the Mc or possibly the Manx assumed it as they were Irish"
I have searched extensively in Northern Ireland to no avail. In fact I cannot find any LYNCHEY or similar name in either the NI or the Eire white pages on line.
If you come across anything I would really appreciate hearing it.
It seems that in the UK as in OZZ there was a long period when people were ashamed to acknowledge their transported rello's, although here at least, for the last 30 years or so it has become quite fashionable to have one of those unfortumates who did so much building this country amongst your ancestors.
Cheers
