he was there in 1883 as well - is he not the same Irish born Benjamin Atkinson who was running the Ellan Vannin Arms in Fairy Ground (near north Quay Douglas) in 1881 census - doesn't appear to be in 1894 directory as a farmer tho.
If he bought the farm then a sale would probably be advertised - also you should find transfer of ownership in Manorial roll - but if he was merely a tenant then the best you might find is an advert for tenancy in local press
