I will check dates. I obviously had the wrong location. I really appreciate your help. My grandmother was Mary Chesworth. My grandfather's name was Sharpe but his "father" had died three years before he was born so I have no idea who his real father was.
Marg, Len has found where Catharine Quilleash fitted in, and that her mother Jane Christian came from Maughold.
She was bapt in Maughold on 29 May 1836, as the illegitimate daur of John Quilleash & Jane Christian, and in the Manx way would have been known by her father's name, even though living with her mother's family in Maughold.
Len pointed out that the 1841 Maughold census has:
2 15 74 Ballasaig:
John CHRISTIAN 70 Linen & Woollen weaver b.Isle of Man
Jane CHRISTIAN 40 b.Isle of Man
Catharine QUILLEASH 5 b.Isle of Man
Elizabeth KNEALE 15 b.Isle of Man
[Relationships and exact ages not given in 1841.]
Elizabeth possibly Illegitimate daur of Cath Christian bapt Maughold 12 Mar 1824.
In the 1851 Maughold census, in Maughold Village, Catherine Quilleash is aged 14 as daughter of Jane Christian aged 50. There is a John Quilleash, unmarr., aged 55, at Folieu, Maughold, Proprietor farming 8 acres, b. Maughold, who may or may not be the father named at Cath's bapt.
Catharina Ann Quilleash and Daniel Cannan married on 24 Nov.1855 at Kirk Michael (bapt for Anne Jane Cannon on 15 May 1859 Lezayre).
You could check LDS film no.0106178 for the marriage to see if it records that Cath came from Maughold, and also for her father's name and occupation, unless someone could look it up for you at the Manx Museum library.

Daniel and Catherine Cannan lived in Michael where he was a gardener but on retirement they moved to Douglas and ran a boarding house. They both died in Douglas but were buried in Michael.
You could order the marriage cert from the IoM Registry for William Henry SHARPE & Mary CHESWORTH in 1911 (R A1 118) which would give you information about fathers, etc.
What was your grandfather's forename and date of bapt or birth? We might be able to find his Sharpe or Quilleash connection.
