Retirement age in Canada is usually between 60-70 years, however, many retire much earlier (I retired at 54 years, my husband at 55).

The above does not necessarily mean that you must retire at 65 or ?, but it is the norm. Mandatory retirement is not enforced in all provinces and in any case our Human Rights Bill would prevent discrimination thru' age. Not too many work past 70 years of age. On the other hand, you can retire at any age you wish.

If your Mary Foster died in 2006 at the age of 92 (date of birth 1914), then I would suggest if she was in good health, then she probably continued to work, if not as a nurse necessarily, then somewhere in the medical field perhaps until at least 1979 (age 65), or maybe even until 1984 (age 70).
