Re: Mary Garrett
In Response To: Re: Mary Garrett ()

Hi Mary,

I am also researching the Garrett/Goldsmith families of northern IOM. My great x3 grandparents were John Garrett (b. abt 1800 Andreas, bur. 24 Dec 1864 Bride, mar. 17 Dec 1831 Bride) and Margaret Goldsmith (chr. 13 Mar 1807 Bride and bur. 27 Sep 1887 Bride). They had 9 children John, Phillip, Eliza, David, William, Ann, William, Henry and Catherine. I only have information on the marriage of John (jnr.) Garrett who married Sarah Craig in Victoria, Australia. I cannot find any marriage information or there whereabouts of the remaining Garrett children.

John Garrett's (senior) parents are another mystery. There were many John Garrett's born in Bride and Andreas during the 1800's. On the 1851 and 1861 census', his birth place is listed as Andreas. His birth date is around 1800. There were 3 John Garrett's born in Andreas in 1799, the most likely parents are Daniel Garrett and Catherine Cottier or Skinner married on 19 Dec 1795 Bride.

Is there a connection with the Garrett's you have been researching. People have always said to me that all Garrett's in the IOM are related!

Cheers

Craig Garrett
