Re: CORLETT Family
In Response To: Re: CORLETT Family ()

Hi Clive,

When I saw that Edward Corlett was recorded as a widower at his marriage to Margaret Kerruish in 1838 I looked for an earlier marriage. There were two possibles, if in Maughold:
Edward Corlett & Ann Kneale married 28 Nov 1818.
Their children:
William [son of] Edward Corlett & Anne Kneale [bapt] Parish Church 28 Mar 1819
Edward Edward Corlett/ Ann Kneale Parish Church 9 Dec 1821
Daniel Edward Corlett/ Ann Kneale Parish Church 1 Oct 1824

Edward Corlett & Ann Kissack married 7 Sep 1829. Edward from Lezayre.
Their child:
Thomas Illegitimate son of Edward Corlett/ Ann Kissack bapt Parish Church 17 Jun 1827.

1841 census Maughold
2 11 55 Pt of Ballakilley
Isabella CALLOW 68 Ag lab Isle of Man
Edward CORLETT 20 Shoemaker`s apprent Isle of Man
Daniel CORLETT 17 Isle of Man

One household away:
2 11 54 Pt of Ballakilley
Edward CORLETT 48 Sailor Isle of Man
Margaret CORLETT 34 Isle of Man
Elizabeth CORLETT 1 Isle of Man

In 1851 they were in Maughold at Jalloo, which was next to Ballakilley entries in the census, and one household away from Edward and Margaret Corlett and family, also at Jalloo. Isabella Callow, Hd, unmarr., aged 77, Labouring woman, with her two grandsons, both unmarr., Edward Corlett aged 29, shoemaker, Daniel Corlett aged 24, Tailor, all b. Maughold.

Daniel's age is a year out in 1851, but otherwise it all fits?

I couldn't find Anne's burial.

Isab. CALLOW aged 83, Jalloo, was buried Maughold 13 May 1856.
