I've been looking at Frances's summary of the 1799 Will of Isabel Corlett, widow of Lezayre. The children mentioned are:
son John Corlet, gdaughter Isabel Corlet
daughters:
Margery wife of John Crow, and grandson John Crow
Catharine wife of Philip Garret
Mary wife of James Skillicorn
and
granddaughter Jane Cavendish
I'm now trying to find out more about this family. From the IGI The parents could be John Corlett and Isabel Kewn/Kneale/Cottier but there are lots of member submissions and it's difficult to know how to proceed.
What's got my interest is the mention of Jane Cavendish, granddaughter:
In Lezayre baptisms register there is
Jane Illegit daughter of Isabel Kneal by John Darcy, An Irish Man, March 11th 1756.
In 1773 a Jane Darcy married, 'with the permission of her parents' (therefore a minor?) Richard Corjeage from Kirk Michael. They had several children later known as Cavendish, and a daughter Jane bpt in Kirk Michael in 1781.
It would seem very neat and tidy to me if Jane Darcy's mother Isabel Kneal turned out to be the Isabel Corlett of the above will, having married a John? Corlett sometime after March 1756.
Has anyone been researching these Corletts of Lezayre who might be able to throw any light on the above?
