Thankyou Frances. Heres a brief genealogy of Hugh Kerruish who married Elizabeth Chonray, 20 Oct 1861, Maughold.(both living in Ramsey at the time). He was son of James Kerruish(a shoemaker) and Ann Sansbury of C'Town. James was son of Ewan Kerruish and Cath Kewin/kewne, but have been unable to go back any further. Robert Kerruish who married Margt Cooil was very likely the brother of Hugh but I need documentation to prove it. Hugh moved to Liverpool with his 1st wife, Eleanor Lewin, married 30 mar 1845. Later he lived in Ramsey when he married elizabeth. They then moved to C'Town and later to Peel. At some stage also to Douglas. They lived in Port St Mary for a while before moving to Barrow in Furness, England, where Hugh and Elizth later both died. Their older children moved to Hooke , Goole, Yorkshire. Most of the family and siblings were involved with shops or pubs. James was also an Ostler in C'Town. I think that Hugh and a brother may have been involved in book publishing and it may have been them rather than the douglas family of hugh kerruish. Mrs Kerruish, the notable, may have been Ann Sansbury, who wrote a book from C'Town in 1832. Hope this benefits someone.
