Re: William Barry
In Response To: Re: William Barry ()

Thanks, Brian.

I've been playing at genealogy for almost 3 years, and after many frustratingly unsuccessful attempts, had decided that the familysearch site wasn't very useful.

Then recently I came across an old posting from 11th July 2005 by Richard Redfern "Cubbon Arbory" and realised that I'd been making the mistake of trying to put too much information in before clicking on "search".

This next paragraph is for anyone dim like me, who's got stuck and given up. Have a look at that message, although I think that maybe the design of the site has changed since Richard wrote that in 2005. Now, on the page that appears after you've entered "familysearch.org", you need to click on "advanced search" to get the page where you put in the names of the parents, in order to be able to discover the names and baptism dates of their children. The beauty of this method is that you also get other people's research ( if any exists ) in the Pedigree Resource File, bearing in mind that this may turn out to be inaccurate.

So after your kind reply, Brian, I've experimented with the site again and discovered a new trick.

Thanks again
Jean
