From the late 1840s onwards the details in the parish registers are almost as good as the later civil regt certs. They usually give details of both bride and groom's residences, sometimes the exact age (but usually of age or a minor), whether single or widowed, occupation, fathers' names and occupations. Witnesses.
Also, depending on the parish, father's address (or just parish). Sometimes other details were added. For example, one parish clerk misunderstood the state question - meaning whether single or widowed - and wrote "well off", "very poor circumstances", etc.
Sometimes just a parish was given for the residence, sometimes the actual farm.
They are well worth looking at.
