Hi Millie, Eric and Frances,
Sorry I have been out of the loop for a while, my computer had a virus on the IOM website.
At last the penny has dropped and I now can see where Wm comes in - I think!
Eric, what can I say? All this research must have taken you hours and hours. Thank you so much for all the hard work and what a colourful past Millie and I seem to share!
I have been researching this family for 12 mths and have learnt more in the last few days, I have not been able to get past John Quay but rather than go galloping into the past I prefer to find out about their life in the 1800's and you have not disappointed.
Now I can check out Wm and discover how the family all became tailors and dressmakers (I'm not bad with a needle myself!)
Thank you again for spending so much time on Margaret, she is a mysterious character and I look forward to hearing more about her - if there is any more......
And for the pot - my maiden name is Quaye though Grandad always said that Manasseh claimed it was Quay and incorrectly written on the Census and stayed that way.
Mary ............
