Re: Corlett and Cain , Clarke
In Response To: Re: Corlett and Cain , Clarke ()

maybe another couple of queries then -

the 1712 bapt for patrick Cain in Ballaugh had on the same day a bapt for philip cain - this looks rather like twins which at that period usually did not survive - I don't have access to the Ballaugh reg at the moment but this should be checked.

Secondly there is no marriage for Adam caine + ann corlett that I can find (the Michael + Ballaugh regs are extant at this period) - there is a will for an Adam Cain in Michael in 1733 this would prove connection with ann corlett.

Ann Corlett Cain's children could be the Patrick Cain + Ann Caley m. in Ballaugh 1717 (2 of the gch match - but I can't find the son Pat however) - this Patrick cain then possibly remarried in 1742 after death of Ann Caley - again a couple of wills would help prove/disprove this.

There were Manx in USA from mid 18th (generally few) but the Cain name is also shared with the Irish so identiification with the Island is always a little uncertain.
