Re: armory/armoroyd isle of man

I seem to recall this name appearing before but I can't find the ref.

In 1841 there is a family (siblings?) of Armroyds all born England + living Steam Packet Quay (part of North Quay) Douglas who are cutlers - the eldest is George. In 1851 he appears as a cutler + gunsmith 46 north quay age 33 born chester but now married to a ellen born liverpool and 1st child born Birmingham (which was famous for guns then) -
One of the younger siblings in 1841 is John age 20; There is a marriage in Ramsey in 1860 of a John Armroyd to an Emma Christrian - John Armroyd appears in 1863 direcory as hair dresser (+ also cutler) - possibly the "Micky" Armroyd, a one-legged barber, who also dealt in fishing tackle etc. described by W H Kneale
by 1881 this John married to an Emma is back in Douglas age 60 as a cutler at 4 Castle St
- is this your family with connection to an Emma ? and their children in 1881 match your names
