Hope someone can help me with my research.
My great grandmother: Mary Ann Thomas HUDSON (d/b 25.7.1872), Daughter of Thomas and Frances (nee Sullivan), was baptised in a catholic church in IOM Godparents were John Sullivan and Helen Whelan.
Can anybody help with a marriage record and/or any other details. I don't know if Frances and Thomas married in IOM or not.
I think Frances was born in Ireland. Frances's 2 sisters were both married in Liverpool, stating that they were born in Ireland.
Mary Ann, together with an older brother (John Sullivan) is on the 1881 census in Liverpool with an Aunt. I can find no trace of Frances.
I presume John Sullivan was illegitimate - he was born in October, 1969. 1881 census states he was born in Liverpool but birth was not registered, as searches carried out by me and the Family Records Centre proved fruitless. John, himself, writes in records that he was born in Liverpool. I have tried the usual parish records but cannot find a baptism.
I know nothing of Thomas Hudson - was he Manx?
Did Frances and Thomas live in IOM for any length of time?
Did Frances die in IOM? I can find no death record that I can authenticate.
The only other connection with IOM I can find is a photo of Mary Ann (also known as Polly) with her hnusband and a William Murphy (haven't a clue who he is) taken in IOM in 1893. Photo gives no clue to location in IOM. Was Mary Ann visiting somebody or just on Holiday?
Mary Ann married and brought up her family and died in Liverpool.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
