Re: australian and new zealand
In Response To: Re: australian and new zealand ()

Dear Liz and Averil,
Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck looking for Catherine Cain/Wilson. My immigration CDs end in 1920. I have found no appropriate marriage or births to a mother named Catherine Cain or Wilson. On the CDs entitled Death Index (a straight listing of deaths) and Death Inquiry Index (an officially investigated death), I have found the following possibilities:

Catherine De La Coeur
Died 1948 aged 47years
Father: Bernard Cain
Mother: Bridget Docherty (spelled as on CD)
Death Place: Reservoir, Victoria Australia
PROV Ref 1461

Catherine Wilson
Death Inquiry Date listed either Sept 12 1917 or Dec 9 1917. Died of Tuberculosis Kidney.
This diagnosis is listed as written on the CD. I don’t know if they are two separate causes of death or if the terms are in the correct order.
No age at death listed.
PROV Ref 818

Catherine Elizabeth Moase Wilson
Death Inquiry Date listed July 7th or 9th 1924. Died of Heart & kidney disease.
Two dates were listed on the record for the date of the Inquiry.
No age at death listed.
PROV Ref 671

Elena Catherine Wilson
Death Inquiry Date listed Sep 15 1977.
No age at death listed.
No cause of death listed.
PROV Ref 1936

I have checked alternate spellings of Cain, Cane, Wilson and Willson and any places of birth listed as Isle of Man. The PROV reference is the number used at the Public Records Office of Victoria. I am sorry to be of so little help. Write if you come up with any other leads and I will take another look.

Cheers,
Helen Edwards
