SMITH John and James from Ramsey

My Gt Grandmother Margaret Smith born Glasgow 1882 moved to Riverside Ramsey c1896 with her family. She had two brothers John born 30/7/1886 and James 29/2/1888 who I have not been able to trace what happened to after 1901 Census. My Grandfather (Margarets son) was brought up by his Grandparents as far as I can make out and family history has it that two brothers died in WW1 - this could have been James and John. I cant find any marriages for them and wonder what happened to them. Does anyone know if it would be possible to find out if they did fight WW1? Is there any commemorative stone that bears their names in the Isle of Man - any way of checking online? Someone kindly checked the names on a memorial in I think Lezayre to no avail. I realise that the common name of Smith makes it a daunting task as to where to start but not so common a name in the Isle of Man. Does anyone know what Regiments they could have fought with? This is all presuming they stayed in th Isle of Man and they did fight in the War. I have checked the Commonwealth War site but couldnt find them. They may have remained in Ramsey and if so are they related to anyone on the list also researching? Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated.
