Does anyone remember the C S S M services on the beach, sitting in rows on mounds of sand covered in tarpaulins, singing "choruses" accompanied by an old organ ( in a hall on rainy days.)
In the afternoons there were competitions---like sand modelling, and my favourite, sand texts decorated with wild flowers that we seemed to be allowed to pick freely in those days.
The man in charge was Mr Matheson, and I remember a Mr Leith Samuel.
My sister and I went every year from the late 1950s to the mid 60s. Happy days.
