There's a will listed for a Margaret Curphey around the same date, but I don't really know if either the burial or the will are for the wife of John Curphey, shoemaker, living in Atholl St in 1841 & 1851. I can't find them on the 1861 census, when they would have been 65, so I was kind of guessing they'd died sometime between. A will might give me more information about the family, but I'd like to try and reduce the number of wild goose chases I'm setting myself up for when I get to the island in July. I'll probably have the equivalent of one day in the museum and I know how long it can take to find wills!
