Edwin was christened 1852 at St Peters Liverpool to William Strickland and Elizabeth Gradwell.

I think Elizabeth was in Cartmel Ulverston at this time ( I bought some sticky toffee pudding there last week).

The Gradwell family came from a small town called Ellel near Cockerham north of Fleetwood.
The mother, known as Nanny Makinson married William Gradwell in 1812 and had a number of children seen in IGI.

William Strickland married Elizabeth Gradwell 1840 at St Marys Lancaster.

Edwin Gradwell Strickland married Violet Prentice 1873 at St Pauls Liverpool, the family can be seen in the 1881 census.
