Checked out the census material.
It occurs only in the 1861 census.
If the order of schedules reflects the enumerator's route he was proceeding down Main Street.
Part way along or at one end of Main Street he then did Quay Street
followed by Lime Street
followed by Limpet Street (9 buildings)
and then resumed on Main Street.
The writing is quite clear on the census return.
