I have used passenger lists published in the papers in 1830s - I was particularly interested in travel to and from the Island during the Cholera epidemic. I haven't looked for any later, so you are probably right about there being no lists for the mid-1800s. Presumably this practice stopped once ferry travel to/from the Island became popular. This doesn't help Carolyn as she is looking for info from later and for people leaving the Island!
