Re: Phil Mann: two CHRISTIAN families Maughold

Hi Philip,

Many thanks for your additional information. I'm sure Phil Mann, whose families these are, will be grateful for the details and explanations.

Re. the place names in the census transcripts, I'm sure you are correct. I quoted them the same as I was given, not knowing whether or not it was how they were recorded on the original form.

Your question about: John Thomas son of Robert Christian & Mary Christian bapt. Parish Church Maughold 27 Dec 1859. John Thos. CHRISTIAN aged 14 months, Balterson, buried 28 Jan 1861. I assumed he either died at his grandparents' place, was buried from their place, or was identified by his mother's place of birth, as Maughold records often were - linking people to a well-known family.

As to whether he was instead from the Edward Christian and Jane Quayle family, they had a son John bapt. 26 Aug 1855 (with no John Christian child burial that I found during those years), and a son Thomas Quayle Christian bapt. 25 Sep 1859. - I don't think it was his burial. Next child bapt. 1862.

How did Constance R. fit in both Thomas Quayle C. bapt 25 Sep 1859 and John Thomas C. bapt.27 Dec 1859 as their children?

Thanks also for the clarification of where Dorothy Christian was from (MI #24), and that MI #25 shows yet another marriage of Christian to Christian, in this case first cousins.

Are you able to give Phil further information about the JOUGHIN branch of Margaret Joughin, Rhenabb (1768-1852)? I wrote to you to ask, but guess we have email delivery problems again?
