I am trying to track down a Jane Cavendish bapt. 1st Apr 1821 at Jurby, daughter of Thomas Cavendish & Margaret Killey. She seems to be on the 1841 census, age rounded down to 15.
But after that the only sure reference to her is a token legacy of 2 shillings & sixpence in her father's 1863 Will (no location or married name mentioned, but presumably still alive). The only other child to receive the same legacy had emigrated to America many years before.
My idea that she went to Australia is based solely on the 1902 Will of Thomas's grandson where he refers to an expected legacy from his "late aunt in Australia", not named, but his father seems to have had only one sister, Jane, and the married brothers didn't go to Australia.
I have had no luck with Australian website lists of immigrants myself and just wondered if anyone over there (or anywhere else of course!) has any advice or information - or is perhaps related? I don't know if she ever married.
Thank you in anticipation.
