My problem is by purchasing my grand parents Marriage Certificate dated 1913 for William Frances Albert Kelly and Lucy Lount (which took place in Barnsley, England) I have confirmed the name of my great grand father as Thomas Kelly - occupation Sea Captain.
William F. A. Kelly was 25 in 1913 therefore I am working on him being born around 1888.
I am told that William's father was from the Isle of Man and in the 1891 Census I have found a Thomas Kelly but he was on a boat out at sea when the census was taken, therefore, no home address is given.
I am also told that Thomas Kelly married a lady from Scotland with a maiden name of MacDonald or McDonald, but no chrisitan name is known.
In the 1891 Census I have found an Isabella Kelly (born in Scotland) (aged 25) residing in the Isle of Man (Kirk Michael) with a son called William (no middle initials) aged 2, (making him around the right age) she also has a daughter also called Isabella aged 10 months, but I cannot be certain if I am researching the correct Thomas Kelly or if Isabella is his wife's christian name as I cannot find any birth information about William or Isabella Junior in the England and Scotland records, therefore, I am assuming that they were both born in the Isle of Man.
I have also searched Scotland, England and the Isle of Man for a marriage between a Kelly and a MacDoncald/McDonald around 1886, 1887, 1888 with no luck.
I am working on possible birth dates for Thomas Kelly and his wife as being around 1866
Can anyone help me to climb this brick wall that I have hit and help me to proceed further.
