Re: Victoria House Douglas
In Response To: Victoria House Douglas ()

In the 1901 census Victoria House was next to No.11 Victoria Road (i.e. No. 12) and was occupied by an unmarried Margaret A Maddrell (aged 26), her widowed mother Eleanor Maddrell (aged 69) and her labourer brother Robert Maddrell (aged 22). Although run as a boarding house, there were no other tenants on census night. You could find more from a trade directory, post office directory or tourist guide of around the time, but these are hard to find (unless you visit the Manx Museum) and are not high in the priority of transcribers (apart from Frances) for online or CDRom access.
