I haven't had a chance to check those wills. Researchers of a branch of Kaighins who emigrated in 1826 to NY have long claimed that Thomas Kaighin and Margaret Quayle were the parents of the emigrant, John Kaighin.
Yesterday I received a letter, found at the Reedley, CA Historical Society, written by my GGG Grandfather, Charles Kaighin in 1841 to the son of the John in question. The letter is an absolute goldmine and has established that the parents of both my GGG Grandfather and the emigrant John were John Kaighin and Ann Lace of Ballacregga, Michael.
I still want to prove to the descendants of emigrant John Kaighin (there are about 100 Kaighins in the US descended from him) that he was not the son of Thomas K and Margaret Quayle. The letter should do the trick, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something. I've posted the letter to my site:
