there are two forms of Parish - civil & ecclesiastical (I believe the same distinction applies to some English parishes)- the civil parish of Onchan includes much of Douglas (all changed in 1860's when Douglas became a borough) - the ecclesiastical parish of Braddan extended up to the little river (now culveted) that came out near Port Jack and thus the old part of Douglas was always in Braddan (Douglas only expanded along the bay and the headlands post c.1820)
