The information that I have is that Philip SCARFF married Jane HOGG 15 Jul 1786 in Lonan. Philip was baptized 13 May 1759 (son of Philip SCARFF & Ann CALLISTER) and was buried 4 Nov 1841 aged 82 in Lonan. Jane was baptized 25 Aug 1765 (dau of Thomas HOGG & Jane COWIN) in Lonan and buried 28 Oct 1838 aged 75 (s/b 73); however I have a note that this needs to be confirmed that this burial entry belongs to her. In fact, now I see a will proved 1836, dated 13 Jun 1834, for Jane Scarffe that mentions: son John Scarffe, son Thomas Scarffe, dau Ann Scarffe wife of John Roke, sister Ann Hogg, dau Margritt Scarffe, Phillip Scarffe husb., dau Jane Scarffe exec. So the 1838 date can't be right.
Children that I have are: William 1787, Ann 1789, Jane 1792, John 1794-1872 (buried Lonan age 78 of Ballig), Margaret 1796 and Thomas 1799-1867. The youngest, Thomas, married Jane GELLING, the sister of my 2xg grandfather William. See "GELLINGS of Lonan" messages on this BB to learn more about them.
For your last question, we go back one generation, and what I have is a bit spotty.
1. James bapt 24 Jul 1757. That's all I know.
2. There's a SCARFF bapt 22 Sep 1757 under this family on my database that makes no sense to me now. Need to look at Lonan registers again.
3. Philip, as above.
4. Thomas bapt 24 Oct 1762 and buried 8 Feb 1839 Lonan aged 76. He married ca 1787 Eleanor KEWLEY (dau of Patrick KEWLEY & Margaret WATERSON). They are the ancestors of Lynda Dickenson. See BB messages "James Scarffe" in January 2007, during which we worked out Lynda's connection to this family.
5. John bapt 19 May 1765 and buried 3 Jun 1839 Lonan "age 80". His wife was Ann KELLY and I have 5 children: Jane 1790 mar Thomas MOORE 1811 Lonan, James 1792, John 1794 marr Eleanor QUAY 1818 Lonan, Ann bapt n/k marr Edward MOORE 1820 Lonan, Elizabeth 1802.
6. William bapt 4 May 1769. I have a note: "Perhaps the Wm SCARFF at 16 Prospect Hill, Visitor, Widower, age 82, Agricultural Labourer, b Lonan in 1851 census at Douglas".
7. Daniel bapt 10 Nov 1771. Married Catharine KELLY 21 Aug 1802 Lonan.
That's the extent of what I have. I hope it will help fill some gaps for you.
