I am trying to find out anything about the Curphey family. Tom Curphey was my great grandfather and he died in France on 17th January in 1917 in the trenches of WW1. He was in the First Kings Battalion, Liverpool.
He was born on the Isle of Man 1893 or 1894 his father was also called Thomas. There were several syblings: Catherine (known as Kitty) and I'm not sure of the others' names. They moved to Liverpool in the late 1890s (I think it was to the Linacre area). In the 1901 census, they are recorded as living in the Orrell area of Liverpool.
Kitty married and had two children, Freddy and Muriel. Tom married my great grandmother, Margaret Annie Penlington in Liverpool in March 1915 (I think!) They had one daughter, my grandmother, Edna Margaret and lived in Kipling Street. When she was widowed, she moved back in with her parents in Alt Road.
When Edna married my grandfather, James Walmsley in Liverpool in August 1938, we think Tom's parents and sister, Miss A Curphey, attended (this according to a newspaper cutting of the time).
Any help or leads very gratefully received, Sally Morgan.
