The Bank of Mona started up in 1849 - it was a branch of the Bank of Glasgow (and collapsed with its parent in 1878) its basis was an earlier Douglas Bank which it took over - in 1855 it built the wedding cake building bought in 1879 by Goverment for use as as offices (not the Tynwald which is actually next door though often tourists think it is the Tynwald building) and Charles Jackson was managing director - my guess is that Mr Archibald came in from Glasgow in 1849 at the foundation and left c. 1855, probably a Presbyterian hence the registered births.
